Time to lead, Rep. Carey

If Rep. Mike Carey expects to be paid during the government shutdown, he needs to return to D.C. this weekend and start negotiating with his fellow GOP colleagues who control both branches of Congress. A protracted government shutdown will strangle Ohioans.

As the shutdown passes from “weeks” into “months,” the approximately 1.5 million Ohioans who rely on the federal supplemental nutrition assistance program (SNAP) and the related special nutrition assistance for women infants and children (WIC) will suffer as these critical, life sustaining resources dry up. That’s more than 740,000 households who are counting on Carey to lead.

Not interested in helping SNAP or WIC recipients?

Why not help the thousands Ohio farmers who have bumper crops and no market? Of Ohio’s approximately 29 million acres of land, 49% is dedicated to agricultural use. Tariffs are burying Ohio’s farmers. Congress can protect vulnerable families and defend farmers with one vote.

Stop letting the White House run Congress. Support Ohio families and Ohio farmers. The clock is ticking. It’s time to lead.
